Developing a Vision
A multi-disciplinary team led by the DC Office of Planning undertook a planning and design study to envision a transformational future that accounts for anticipated change, embraces an understanding of lived histories to be preserved and celebrated, and identifies opportunities for ongoing collaboration. The team, listed below, met with over 20 representatives of the major institutions, community groups, and landowners, with the goal of fostering dialogue with and between stakeholders.

The Office of Planning (OP) is tasked with planning for the long-term growth of the District of Columbia to help ensure it reflects our values of an inclusive and vibrant city. We help the District work toward a positive future in which all District residents can thrive, regardless of income, race, age, or background. OP guides development in the District of Columbia’s distinctive neighborhoods by engaging stakeholders and residents, performing research and analysis, serving as the steward of our historic resources, and publishing various planning documents, including the Comprehensive Plan.

Their multidisciplinary staff has worked together for years to illustrate, animate, and communicate the future of our communities to our neighbors, designers, city officials, investors, and tenants since the founding as a corporation in 1994.
Prologue DC, LLC is a woman-owned company based in Washington DC that provides historical content and images; conducts oral history interviews; researches primary documents, maps, images, film, and video; and produces reports, brochures, exhibits, presentations, historic-site signage, and historic-district nominations.
